Energy-efficient homes – new and existing – require mechanical ventilation to maintain indoor air quality. This session will discuss why ventilation is necessary, the roles of intermittent, spot, and whole-house ventilation, options for achieving each type of ventilation, ASHRAE 62.2 standards, system sizing, and fundamentals of proper installation. The ventilation requirements of many state codes, IECC and the new 2015 Michigan Residential Code will also be covered.

In the late 1990’s and early 2000’s Jeff managed many different utility programs supervising a staff of over 30 in making existing homes more energy efficient and comfortable to live in. In addition, for the past 18 years Jeff has been working with builders to design residential ventilation systems, select the right products and train installers on proper sizing and installation to ensure better indoor air quality and a healthier lived in environment. He is certified in Residential Ventilation Installation by the CMHC (Canadian Mortgage Housing Corporation) and 2003 became certified as a HERS Rater (expired).
