As someone interested in taking this course and receiving this certificate, you will go through a series of courses and videos to help you understand the basics of residential green building and remodeling.
This includes covering the five pillars of green building:
Energy | Health | Materials | Water | Place.
You will be prepared to start or participate in a green building project, become a GreenHome Inspector, and/or provide consultations on a project, no matter what your role is.
Our unique on-demand course will bring you up to speed on the basics of green building science through just-in-time education compiled from the best-in-class resources. You will gain foundational knowledge of what it takes to build, remodel, and rehab residential living spaces so that they are better.
There are ten core chapters, including these high-level topics.

This includes 11 hours of video and small quiz work to complete and is worth 11 hours in CEUS.

Once you complete the exam, you can be listed as a professional on our website https://greenhomeinstitute.org/find-a-pro/
From there, you can either become GreenHome Inspector by meeting additional requirements. These individuals can register or submit the GreenStar Homes project for certification.
There are 15 hours of yearly credential maintenance requiring you to do webinars, complete projects, read articles, volunteer, instruct courses, lead building tours, rate homes, or through additional ways to show you’re keeping up with Green Building Science. You need at least 2 hours in each of the five pillars of the green building, and GHI will provide all of this for free to our members.
