Get Your

Home Energy Score Today

Imagine your own in-home green education session!

A GreenHome Inspection includes a review of your home’s sustainability features through the lens of the five pillars of green.

Within 2 – 3 hours, we determine ways you be more comfortable, save energy, improve health, reduce utility bills and improve the durability of your home. We give recommendations on how and where to improve your home. Then, if everything is updated, you could earn an official GreenStar Homes Certification or be eligible for other rebates or tax incentives.

The Inflation Reduction Act Tax Credit 25c could give you 30% money back for the cost of the audit. Learn more and consult your tax advisor.

How do I determine my Home Energy Score?

“The Home Energy Score is similar to a vehicle’s miles-per-gallon rating. The Home Energy Score allows homeowners to compare the energy performance of their homes to other homes nationwide. It also provides homeowners with suggestions for improving their homes’ efficiency.

The process starts with a Home Energy Score Assessor collecting energy information during a brief home walk-through. Using the Home Energy Scoring Tool, developed by the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, the Assessor scores the home on a scale of 1 to 10. A score of 10 indicates that the home has excellent energy performance. A score of 1 indicates the home needs extensive energy improvements.” – DOE

The Department of Energy has a great FAQ here.

What are the next steps to get your inspection?

Check our ‘Find a Pro‘ page for a GreenHome inspector in your area.

If there is no GreenHome Inspector listed in your area, please help us expand our program by searching for industry professionals who are well-positioned to become qualified as GreenHome Inspectors and connect them with our Education Manager, brett.little@greenhomeinstitute.org.

Without a local GreenHome Inspector, we may still be able to help you analyze your home’s current conditions through a “green lens” virtually. We offer consultation services to identify opportunities for improvement and potential applicable tax incentives. The fee for an initial consultation is $100, which could go toward a green certification if you decide to pursue one. Please contact eliza.searles@greenhomeinstitute.org to coordinate a meeting.

Finally, if none of these options fits your needs or if you still have questions, please contact us at info@greenhomeinstitute.org.
